I recently found out that this week is National Poison Prevention Week. As a new parent, I know firsthand how many dangerous things are out there for not only kids and toddlers, but people in general. Things we often overlook could be so dangerous. Smokefree Tuscaloosa took to Twitter to let us know just how dangerous being exposed to tobacco products.

Half of the battle to prevent poisoning the ones you love with these products. You can follow a few steps to make sure you're doing all you can to protect others. In a post about National Poison Prevention Week, SmokeFree Tuscaloosa's Facebook post went into detail on addressing what the AAPC recommends to prevent exposure to liquid nicotine and e-cigarettes.
Always store products up, away, and out of sight of kids. Because these products may smell or look like kid-friendly foods, kids may be tempted to touch or taste them.
Use caution when refilling or handling liquids. Wash your hands with soap and water, and clean up any spills immediately.
Talk to your teens about the health effects using e-cigarettes or “vape” products.
If someone has been exposed to nicotine, especially a child, call the Poison Help hotline at 1-800-222-1222 right away.
Let's do all we can to protect our loved ones and children from dangerous chemicals and poisons.
