The Miami Dolphins have signed their receiver of the future. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Dolphins have come to terms with rookie wide receiver and sixth overall pick Jaylen Waddle on his four-year, fully guaranteed rookie deal.

Waddle, in his three years with the Crimson Tide, caught 106 passes for 1999 yards with 17 touchdowns. Also shining in the return game as one of the top return men in the nation, he racked up over 700 yards and three touchdowns in his time with the Tide.

A standout at Alabama, Waddle is known for his elite speed and ability to move in the open field and should provide a reliable target for second year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as he looks to silence his doubters this season.

In their time together at Alabama, Waddle and Tagovailoa were key pieces of one of the highest powered offenses in college football history. The two seasons this pair spent with each other saw the Crimson Tide average 46.4 points and almost 500 yards per game.

CBSSports shared a tweet depicting Tagovailoa's stats when targeting Waddle in college, and it should serve as pure excitement for Dolphins fans everywhere.

If stats like that can even somewhat translate to the NFL we may see the next great QB/WR duo emerge next season. Nate Burleson of Good Morning Football recently broke down some of Waddle and Tua's film from their time at Alabama and spoke about Waddle's fit with the Dolphins, saying "He's gonna add an element to this offense where Tua doesn't necessarily have to push the ball down the field all the time. You can drop it off to a guy that can take a five-yard hitch to the crib, and that's why they went with Jaylen Waddle."

The Miami Dolphins kick off their 2021 season against the New England Patriots on Sept. 12th. Waddle will have the chance to play with and against one of his former quarterbacks in his first NFL contest, which is bound to be some kind of record.
