Julio Jones Traded to Tennessee Titans
Julio Jones is out of Atlanta. The seven-time pro bowler and two-time All-Pro wide receiver got his wish and was traded to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a 2022 second-round pick and 2023 fourth and sixth-round picks. The trade, first reported by ESPNs Dianna Russini, was announced early Sunday morning, garnering many warm welcomes from Jones' new teammates on Twitter.
Jones, who was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 2011, has been one of the top at his position since his rookie year and despite being on the backend of his career, will provide a much needed option at receiver for the Titans.
After losing Corey Davis to free agency this offseason and hardly addressing the position in the draft, Jones to Tennessee, from the moment it was announced he wanted out of Atlanta, seemed like it was a match made in heaven.
Offseason workouts and recruiting videos from Titans players seemed to have worked as the tenth year talent is finally moving on to a new team after an already Hall of Fame worthy stint in Atlanta. Jones finishes his time with the Falcons as the franchise leader in receptions and yards and just three touchdowns behind Roddy White for the franchise record.
Jones also holds a plethora of NFL records; He was the fastest player to ever reach 10,000 receiving yards as well as being the all-time leader in average receiving yards per game, 10 yards higher than hall of fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
The three-headed attack of Derrick Henry, Julio Jones and AJ Brown will, undoubtedly, be one of the hardest to stop in the league and with the return of pro bowl left tackle, Taylor Lewan, the Titans look poised for a deep playoff run. Pairing Jones up with another former Crimson Tide star in Henry will be a scary sight for opposing defenses this season as the Titans looks to make a run at the Super Bowl for the first time in over two decades.
