Minister Mary G. Thomas is a Phenomenal Woman of West Alabama
Mary G. Thomas lives by Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
Thomas was born and raised in Shucktown, Mississippi by both of her parents who have been married for 44 years. She has lived in Tuscaloosa since meeting her husband in 2007. Thomas has attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham and currently completing her degree at Stillman College.
She is a member of Theta Phi Sigma Christian Sorority, Inc., where she currently serves as the President in Training for our Tuscaloosa Chapter, Thessalonians Upsilon. Also, she is a board member for one of the best organizations in Tuscaloosa County, Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS).
Thomas said that she had a time in her life when she ran away from home and her life changed drastically. During those 10 years of her life, she said she “lost who” she was. She said that “after going through and having my two blessings from Heaven” she finally opened up her mouth and asked God to save her. Thomas said, “He did just that!” She said God gave her a chance to do His will.
She gave my testimony on August 1, 2017, started her book that October and was published in January 2018. “How I Survived What Once Controlled Me” can be found on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or by contacting her at ayouniquetouch@gmail.com.
Her book led to the founding of her walking by faith and trusting what God had placed before her. This launched “A YouNique Touch Ministries” in March of 2018. Thomas said she “didn't understand why He gave” her this name, but she trusted God. After classes and training from Cornerstone Full Gospel Baptist Church, she became a licensed minister on August 1, 2018.
Thomas wanted to help women who were like her those that felt like they weren't good enough to succeed in life because of their past mistakes. However, she feels that your past doesn't dictate your future, but it gives you the strong foundation to move forward and embrace the future.
Thomas feels that “women can no longer be afraid, embarrassed, or ashamed of what, who, when, and how things transpired in their lives.” She wants them to know that they are not alone.
Thomas enjoys hobbies that involve family time and cooking. Her business came about from me putting leftover Taco Soup in a small jar one Thursday night. When she took the jar out the Lord spoke to her "You have every you need to succeed, move forward". It all started from there.
Her grandmother's name was Glory. Thomas remembers “waiting to eat her food, the smells, the clicking, and clacking of pans, while she was in the kitchen.” Her grandmother passed while I was away from home, and I thought what better way than to name my business after her, “A Taste of Glory Homemade Soups & Goods.”
Currently, the products are Glory's Spaghetti, Glory's Taco, Glory's Potato, Glory's Mac Vegetable, Glory's Vegetable, Glory's Chili Be So Good, Glory's Ham - Turkey sliders, and Glory's All Fired Up seasoned crackers.
Thomas is grateful that God has allowed her to be a blessing to others. Her motto is “Trust God and Trust the Process” - Minister Mary G. Thomas
