The inspiration for the "What's Your E?" event is "a want and a drive to help kids figure out what they want to do and how they want to be successful after high school," said Paige Yeager, Career Coach with the Tuscaloosa City Schools.

Dozens of area businesses came out to engage with students by giving them hands-on experience with their career fields and sharing information on how they got started themselves.

"We targeted 8th grade because when you get into 9th grade, you start being able to pick classes that can help you prepare for that "E" and a lot of our kids don't know all the classes we offer," said Yeager.

By the end of the event, the goal was for 8th graders to be knowledgeable on the 3 E's, which are Enrolled, Enlisted, Employed, and hopefully, have some knowledge on which "E" they're leaning towards.

Yeager says that TCS wanted the students to leave the event knowing a couple of classes they can tell their homeschool counselor they'd want to take once they reach the 9th grade.
