Salute Selma 2022 Set To Be a Weekend Of Events To Remember
The right to vote may seem so small to some, but people fought and literally died for African Americans to have that right. Salute Selma Inc. will soon host a weekend of events to commemorate the Selma to Montgomery March and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
I've been living in Alabama going on three years and every year, I learn more about the rich history of this state. Growing up, I learned a little bit about historic events in the south but nothing compared to the lessons I've learned since moving to the state.
Even to this day, I'm learning new things. Some things people would say I "should've known" but luckily organizations like Salute Selma Inc exist that help teaches people about civil rights history and help us learn from it as well.
Salute Selma Inc will host a weekend of events in March including Annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee events, a Health, Wealth, Wellness and Justice Empowerment Village, and Salute Selma’s “Student Sojourn.” the sojourn will feature college students from across the nation participating in Sunday’s historic reenactment march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge.
The huge Women's Empowerment event will include panel discussions, health screenings, a fashion show, multiple vendors, and more! This particular event is free and open to the public. Even better, it's outside! You won't have to worry about being inside an indoor space in the world of COVID-19.
