It's officially August and that means one thing for parents all across Alabama. The kids are leaving the house and your grocery bill is about to become that much cheaper. It's back-to-school season!

This is truly an exciting time for parents as children are achieving another milestone as well.

Moving to a higher grade level, or even starting school altogether is something that parents want to share with loved ones and friends.

Did you know it could be dangerous?

It seems every year when kids go back to school, social media is filled with back-to-school pictures of excited children ready to make new friends and learn new things.

Wanting to share your precious babies with the world of social media is ok but it becomes dangerous when parents put out personal information about their children for the world to see.

Sharing personal information as well as the location of the child's school and other information makes it easy for predators and scammers to use that information in the wrong way.

I came across a post on social media and it made me think about the past few back-to-school seasons in Alabama and I've seen parents in Alabama post pictures with some of that information.

Parents, please be careful this back-to-school season.

It's ok to want to share your beautiful children with your friends on social media but no matter your privacy settings, and who you have on your friends list, it's not wise to put out certain information about your child.
