This Drive-Up Teacher Meet & Greet Was A Lot Of Fun!

We're still in the middle of a pandemic, but the new school year must go on. Tuscaloosa City Schools have the option for students to attend class virtually and do their work from home. Many students will do better by actually getting to see their teacher in person, especially before starting a year of virtual learning. Luckily, Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary organized a Teacher Meet & Greet for their students.

I was able to not only attend this meet and greet, but I was their DJ for the event. I was wondering how things would go. COVID-19 really makes it hard to try and do normal things we're so used to doing like hugging your teacher or shaking hands with someone you just met. After I set up my equipment it only took about 2 minutes for me to see how great of a time we were going to have. The teachers and administration were happy to have me out there and they even provided me with snacks. My favorite were the popsicles because the sun played zero games with us out there.

The students were my favorite part. Seeing their faces in the backseat of their guardian's car as they pulled to the school was priceless. They were happy to see their new teachers, and they were beyond excited to see a DJ at their school for this event. I hope every last student has an amazing school year at their brand new school!

Sometimes it's easy to forget how much the little things can make a huge difference in the lives of children. I'm grateful for the opportunity to DJ for MLK Jr. Elementary school during today's event. Hopefully, it won't be my last time there!

Huge thank you to Miss McVay, Miss Byrd, and the new principal Dr. Williams-Collins for having 1051. The Block out to their school! See you all again soon!
