
Storm Shelters Open Across Tuscaloosa Wednesday
As severe weather moves through West Alabama, the City of Tuscaloosa has opened multiple storm shelters for residents needing a safe place to stay Wednesday afternoon.
According to a post from the City of Tuscaloosa, shelters opened Wednesday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the following locations:
- McDonald Hughes Center, 3101 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (pet friendly)
- Alberta School of Performing Arts, 2700 University Blvd. E
- Northridge High School, 2901 Northridge Rd.
- Skyland Elementary School, 408 Skyland Blvd. E
- Paul W. Bryant High School, 6315 Mary Harmon Bryant Dr.
- University Place Elementary School, 2000 1st Ave.
City leaders are encouraging residents who plan to use the shelters to bring important personal items including snacks, water, medication, and any other essentials they may need while sheltering in place.

There is currently a Tornado Watch issued for much of our listening area until this evening, as reported earlier today.
Forecasters continue to monitor weather conditions across the area as storms move through the region. Officials are reminding residents to stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts throughout the day and overnight.
