Yum! I Finally Tried This Historic Northport Restaurant
It's really amazing that I've been in Tuscaloosa for almost 5 years and I've never been this historical restaurant.
As I look back, it really feels like living here and NOT going out has been my thing. I remember when I first tried Blue Plate. It was at least 2 years living in Tuscaloosa before I went.
Of course, the food was great!
Another restaurant I tried late in the game was Taco Mama.
Now that I think about it, Buffalo Phil's is on the list of restaurants I wanted too long to try as well.
People ask why I rarely go out to eat in Tuscaloosa, and it's simple. Quite frankly, I've grown tired of being let down by bad service or overrated food. It's really made me a better cook!
Today, for the very first time, I tried the historical City Cafe in Northport!
I didn't know what to expect but let me tell you, the food was better than I thought it would be. I ordered the hamburger steak, field peas, macaroni and cheese and the turnip greens.
Believe it or not, my favorite item on my plate was the turnip greens. they were savory, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Of course the rest of the food was good and my arnold palmer was the best I've had in a long time.
Please don't judge me for waiting so long to try this West Alabama staple. Now my question is, what's a great place to try that you KNOW has good food in West Alabama.
