This is definitely something that makes me nervous. I'm a new Alabamian and I don't want to break any laws just because I'm not familiar with Alabama state laws.
Being in a new state comes with a lot of learning. Not just learning streets, and landmarks but laws as well. I came across a list of Alabama laws that are no doubt weird and chances are, longtime Alabamians probably don't know they exist.
After living in Florida all my life, I decided to look up some of their weird laws. In Florida, we're known for always having some kind of weird news so I can only imagine what weird laws there are in existence.
According to Weird Facts, here are 8 Alabama Laws You're Probably Breaking & Don't Even Know It
8 Alabama Laws You're Probably Breaking & Didn't Know It
Here are just a few:
If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle.
It is illegal to sing in a public place while attired in a swimsuit.
Men may not be seen publicly in any kind of strapless gown.
Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal
I could ask so many questions about these WHY on Earth would an elephant be tied to a parking meter? Was this law made during a time where people used elephants and a primary mode of transportation? Wouldn't the elephant be able to break the meter anyway?
I'm just glad that these laws aren't strictly enforced, and that I don't use an elephant to get around town. Lol!
