Christian Barmore Inks Rookie Deal With Patriots
Christian Barmore is officially a New England Patriot. The former Alabama DT signed his rookie contract with the Patriots Wednesday afternoon. The deal is a 4-year $8.5 million, with a $3.5 million signing bonus.
Barmore played two seasons with the Crimson Tide. In his eleven games during the Tide’s championship season, he completed 37 tackles, 9.5 of those for loss, eight sacks, three forced fumbles, and received numerous awards with the team, including: First Team All-SEC, and Defensive MVP in the CFP National Championship.
Barmore is already embracing The Patriot Way. “I am learning from all the veterans,” said Barmore in his June 16, 2021 press conference. “I am still new and I just want to keep learning from everybody- working and learning."
Barmore was drafted to the Patriots in round two, going No. 38 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, he was not the only Tide player to go to New England; he joins former UA QB Mac Jones on this new Patriots squad. Jones went in round one, No. 15 overall.
According to PatsPuplit, the Patriots have drafted 13 players out of Alabama since 2000.
Barmore is the last Patriots draft pick, of eight, to sign his rookie contract.
