This morning, the Tuscaloosa City Schools sent communication stating that Tuesday would be the deadline to request academic packets for students.

With last week's news that students would not be returning to school for the rest of the academic year, many concerns were expressed from parents and citizens.  Most of the issue was the technology gap, as many students don't have computers at home or internet service needed to complete assignments digitally.

It was expressed that students could receive packets for course assignments. This news provided some relief, though there was still concern over transportation to receive the meals provided to minors, care for those children for whom school was the only escape from underprivileged homes, etc.

As the COVID-19 pandemic is like nothing we've ever experienced, some situations may only be handled as attention is brought forth.

Students in need of academic packets should have a text sent to (205) 564-9727.  The text needs to include the child's name, grade, and school. Click here for more information.
