Three days ahead of the annual Iron Bowl game between Alabama and Auburn, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Alabama Athletic department. This is the second time this season Saban has tested positive for COVID-19, the first test resulted in a false positive diagnosis.

According to the statement from Dr. Jimmy Robinson and Jeff Allen, Saban is dealing with mild symptoms as a result of his positive test. He told reporters that he currently feels fine.

"Just a little bit of a maybe runny rose. But nothing really. I feel fine. ... I don't really have anything of significance," said Saban.

Saban tested positive for coronavirus ahead of the Georgia game but subsequently turned in three negative tests, deeming the original test a false positive. The Crimson Tide will not be able to set up a remote location for Saban to coach from in the stands. Saban is resting at home following the appropriate guidelines.

Crimson Tide coordinator, Steve Sarkisian, will serve as Alabama's interim head coach this weekend. Sarkisian handled the head coaching responsibilities for Saban in October when Saban had to quarantine ahead of the Georgia game.

At the moment, Saban is the only member in the Alabama organization that has tested positive for COVID-19 at this time.

Saban's diagnosis will likely put his availability into doubt for Alabama's Dec. 5 game as well. Currently the Tide is scheduled to play Arkansas on Dec. 5 but the SEC could alter the schedule to match Alabama up with LSU after the two programs were unable to play earlier in the year.
