Learn a Trade For Free In West Alabama With This Upcoming Class

There are many career options for young adults in West Alabama. Working in a trade is prime real estate for those looking learn new skills and make good money.

According to the Alabama Department of Labor, some of the most in demand jobs in Alabama are trade jobs. The average annually salary for those jobs were also posted.

Electrician- $46,877

Machinists-$42,782

Welders, Cutters, Solderers, and Brazers- $39,644

Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers- $39,607

According to a post by Skilled Trades of Alabama,  “Plumbers made a median annual salary of $59,880 in 2021. The top 25% made $77,890.” It's no doubt that trade workers can make good money.

Young adults in Pickens County will have a chance to learn a trade in Carpentry, HVAC, Electrical work, and plumbing for free.

Skilled Trades of Alabama will be bringing their jumpstart training to Pickens County where young adults 18-24 can learn a trade.The classes will begin February 19th, 2024 and be held at 99 Commerce Ave 35447 in Carrolton.

Classes will be held Mondays and Tuesdays at 5p for 10 weeks. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be able to gain employment from local contractors.

To participate, you must be 18 years or older, have a valid driver's license, be able to work in the U.S and be able to pass a background check.

Skilled Trades of West Alabama's mission is to build a highly skilled, qualified and prepared workforce for the construction industry in Tuscaloosa County and West Alabama.

They first opened  September to meet the growing demand for skilled craftsmen for the construction industry. They offer opportunities for apprenticeships and training in the construction trades.
