Organizations Provide Meals to Families Every Monday

At the end of March when meals were given away at Beulah Baptist Church in response to service workers being underemployed as a result of the curfew mandated by the City of Tuscaloosa and subsequent "stay at home" order from the State of Alabama?

Well, that program has not only continued. It has also expanded.

The program began with giving away 100 boxes of food said to feed a family of four for an entire week. Food was dispersed each Monday from 11am until 1pm.

Earnestine Tucker with the Westside Community Action Council spoke with us about the need for the food giveaway in relation to the initial target of service personnel and others, and she says that they're now feeding more than 100 families and that those in need are encouraged to come early as some are in line for the 11:00am give away as early as 9:45am, and all boxes are given away on a first-come first-served basis.

Beulah Baptist Church has long been an advocate for its community, and partnering with other area agencies Westside Community Action Council and Miracle Valley Community Outreach further enhances the reach for these organizations.

If nothing else, area residents appreciate feeling loved by the churches in the area and groups formed to enhance their area. Hopefully, these groups will serve as examples for others to follow.
