ALEA Wins National Award for Driver License Services
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is receiving national recognition after its Driver License Division earned the 2026 American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators Service Award for Customer Convenience.
According to a press release sent to Townsquare Media from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, ALEA received the award during the AAMVA Region 2 Conference in Austin, Texas, for its efforts to reduce wait times and improve the customer experience at driver license offices across Alabama.

The award recognized ALEA’s upgraded scheduling and lobby management system called “ALEA Cuts Wait Times with Smart Scheduling and Queuing – Regional and International.”
The system launched in February 2025 and combined appointment scheduling and lobby management into one platform that can be accessed from any device. The goal was to make the process faster, more efficient and easier for Alabamians needing driver license services.
ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor said the award reflects the hard work and dedication of the agency’s employees.
“This award is a testament to the dedication, professionalism and forward-thinking approach of ALEA’s Driver License Division,” Taylor said according to a press release sent to Townsquare Media from ALEA.
ALEA Department of Public Safety Director Jonathan Archer also praised employees for helping modernize services statewide.
According to the press release, more than 360 submissions from agencies across North America were entered into this year’s AAMVA awards program.
Founded in 1933, American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators works with motor vehicle and law enforcement agencies throughout the United States and Canada focusing on driver safety, secure identities and public safety initiatives.
