LEADERSHIP TUSCALOOSA NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR CLASS OF 2020-21

Premier leadership program committed to shaping effective community leaders Leadership Tuscaloosa, West Alabama’s premier leadership program, is now accepting applications for the class of 2020-21. The program is designed to shape the positive direction of individuals inclined toward making our community a better place to live, work, and play.

“Leadership Tuscaloosa is a program for individuals with an interest in becoming more active members of the West Alabama community professionally, philanthropically, and personally,” says Jordan Morris, Principal, Ward Scott Architecture, a graduate of the program and former class Chair. “Class members build relationships with others from diverse market sectors and backgrounds while learning more about their own leadership skills and this community.”

With a class limited to 40 individuals, program participants gain knowledge of the area’s economic, social, historical, and political issues and needs, through sessions with local and state leaders. The program also encourages a team approach to solving community problems and the opportunity to create responsible and responsive leadership through shared experiences of citizens with different opinions and diverse views.

“I chose to participate in Leadership Tuscaloosa in an effort to increase my knowledge of community organizations for which I could volunteer, learn more about our local economy and politics, and to build professional and personal relationships with other leaders in Tuscaloosa,” says Allyson Cooper, the College of Community Health Sciences, The University of Alabama, who will serve as Chair for the class of 2020-21. “I was able to target non-profit organizations to volunteer and serve on their boards as well as continue my relationship with the Chamber as an Ambassador. I have cherished the lasting relationships I made with my classmates and business owners I met. I encourage anyone in a leadership role to apply and learn how you can make a difference in the future of our community.”

The class is selected via application and video interview reviewed by Leadership Tuscaloosa Alumni Association members. For information, visit the website at tuscaloosachamber.com or contact Jill McDonald at (205) 391-0555; jill@tuscaloosachamber.com. The deadline to apply is July 24 at 12 p.m.

Leadership Tuscaloosa is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, Alabama ONE, BF Goodrich/Michelin Tire Manufacturing, and Southmark Design
