Several Tuscaloosa, Alabama Schools Will Be Closed On Friday, January 14th
It's recently been announced from the Office of the Superintendent that three Tuscaloosa County schools will be closed on Friday, January 14th, 2022.
The closure includes Cottondale Elementary, Flatwoods Elementary, and Holt Elementary schools.
This temporary closure is due to a high number of faculty absences along with a lack of substitutes to fill those absences. The closure only affects the above three schools listed and they will reopen on Tuesday, January 18th following the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

From the Office of the Superintendent
The following three schools will be closed on Friday, January 14, 2022.
- Cottondale Elementary
- Flatwoods Elementary
- Holt Elementary
No other TCSS schools are impacted by this closure, and students should report to school as normal at all other schools.
The temporary closure at these schools is due to a high number of faculty absences and lack of substitutes. While other schools are experiencing the same concerns, they are still able to operate at current staffing levels. Students at Cottondale, Flatwoods, and Holt Elementary will return to school on Tuesday, January 18, following the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 17.
We encourage our families to keep practicing healthy habits and good hygiene, to fight the spread of COVID-19, as well as illnesses like cold and flu.
