Governor Kay Ivey is encouraging residents across the state to make their voices heard during Alabama’s upcoming Primary Election on Tuesday, May 19.

According to a press release from Office of The Governor,  Ivey called voting a patriotic duty and emphasized the importance of participation as several major races appear on ballots across Alabama.

“As citizens, it is our patriotic duty to vote. In Alabama, we have an important Primary Election this Tuesday, May 19 with several big races on the ballot,” Ivey said in the release.

The governor also pointed to what she described as Alabama’s current momentum and encouraged voters to help shape the state’s future by electing strong leaders.

“Alabama is experiencing historic momentum, and you selecting strong elected leaders will help our state be even more successful in the years ahead,” Ivey said. “If you don’t vote, you can’t gripe, so head to the polls this Tuesday, May 19.”

According to the press release, voters across Alabama will have the opportunity to cast ballots for every constitutional office, along with legislative races and congressional seats.

Alabamians will also vote on two proposed constitutional amendments during the election. According to the release, one of the amendments focuses on making it more difficult for criminals to be released.

Polls across Alabama are scheduled to open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters can confirm polling locations, registration status, and sample ballots through Alabama’s VoterView system online.
