Community leaders, voting rights advocates, faith leaders, and organizers from across the South are expected to gather in Montgomery this weekend for a major voting rights event focused on civic engagement and fair representation.

According to event organizers, “All Roads Lead to the South , National Day of Action for Voting Rights” is scheduled for Saturday, May 16 in downtown Montgomery.

The main rally program is set to begin at 1 p.m. Organizers said attendees can receive the exact location details by completing an RSVP for the event.

According to the announcement, the gathering will bring together Black Voters Matter, partner organizations, community members, and faith leaders to honor the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement while also focusing on current and future voting rights efforts across the South.

The ACLU of Alabama is also encouraging community members to participate in the event. Organizers said the day will center around protecting fair representation and encouraging civic action.

Montgomery has long been considered one of the most historic cities connected to the fight for civil rights and voting access in America, making it a symbolic location for the National Day of Action event.
