City Invests $1.27M In Police Logistics Facility
City leaders in Tuscaloosa marked a new step forward in public safety with the opening of a new police logistics facility.
The City of Tuscaloosa officially held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday for its new Police Logistics Building, a project designed to strengthen operations for the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
Mayor Walt Maddox, Councilor Raevan Howard, and Acting Chief of Police Severn "Sebo" Sanders all spoke during the ceremony, highlighting the importance of the new facility.
“Today’s ribbon cutting marks a significant milestone for the City of Tuscaloosa,” Maddox said, according to the press release. “This new logistics building enhances the operational foundation of the Tuscaloosa Police Department and strengthens how we deliver public safety services.”
The project represents a $1.27 million investment aimed at improving how the department supports officers and responds to the community.

The new building includes heated storage for vehicles and equipment, 2,550 square feet of additional covered parking, upgraded lighting, enhanced security cameras, and ADA access.
Sanders emphasized how critical the investment is for day-to-day operations.
“This new logistics building reflects the strong commitment of Mayor Maddox and the Tuscaloosa City Council to ensure the Tuscaloosa Police Department has the tools and resources needed to keep our community safe,” Sanders said, according to the press release.
Construction on the facility began in 2025 and is now fully complete, adding another layer of support to public safety efforts across Tuscaloosa.
